The Best Chinese Dramas
(C-Dramas) of All Time

Discover the Most Addictive Chinese Series

If you’re a fan of Asian dramas, C-Dramas have a lot to offer: from epic love stories to intense historical dramas and dazzling fantasy productions. Here, we present some of the best Chinese dramas you simply cannot miss.

1. Love Between Fairy and Devil

This Xianxia-genre drama has all the ingredients to make it an unforgettable series. With a spectacular cast and a plot that blends love, hate, fantasy, magic, action, comedy, and drama, it’s nothing short of a 10 out of 10.

The story follows the most feared of demons who, against all odds, falls in love with a sweet and naïve fairy. However, every kiss between them causes a body swap, adding unexpected twists to the plot.

Dylan Wang shines in the role of the villain, delivering such a compelling performance that we can’t help but wonder why he doesn’t take on more “bad guy” roles. They suit him perfectly. And if his roguish attitude wasn’t already irresistible, add in unlimited powers and those striking blue lightning flashes from his eyes, creating an undeniably commanding on-screen presence.

In most dramas, the male lead is willing to sacrifice his life for the heroine, but here, he is ready to destroy the entire world if that’s what it takes to save her. It doesn’t get any cooler than that!

Nothing is as it seems in this story, and as the plot unfolds, unexpected twists keep you on the edge of your seat. If you want to dive into the fascinating world of Xianxia, this drama is the perfect gateway.

2. Meteor Garden

Many adaptations have been made of the famous manga Hana Yori Dango, but so far, our favourite remains this Chinese version. With an outstanding cast and an exceptional performance by Dylan Wang, this story continues to be a modern classic.

The plot follows the well-known premise of a wealthy and arrogant young man falling in love with a humble girl who refuses to be intimidated by him. Reminiscent of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, this contemporary Asian retelling captivates from the very first episode. It’s a drama well worth watching, and once you start, you won’t be able to stop!

3. Reset

In this series, Li Shi Qing (a university student) and Xiao He Yun (a video game designer) find themselves caught in a time loop after an explosion on a bus. Every time they die, they wake up again minutes before the accident. They must prevent the bus passengers—including themselves—from dying in the strange explosion.

What begins as a mystery turns into a race against time in which they must fight to save themselves.

We were surprised that a Chinese drama could keep us in such suspense in so few episodes, making our hearts race. Each episode is more gripping than the last, and the use of the loop is not only well done but also takes advantage of the opportunity to better introduce the characters and explore their deep emotions. It is an unfairly little-known series that deserves more recognition. The story is a 10/10, short, intense and perfectly rounded, with nothing missing.

4. Hidden Love

The C-drama Hidden Love follows the love story between Sang Zhi and Duan Jia Xu (played by Zhao Lusi and Chen Zheyuan) and is a story of unrequited youthful love that leaves an indelible mark on us thanks to the incredible chemistry between them.

Since she was little, Sang Zhi has been in love with her brother Jia Xu’s best friend, but she has never been able to confess her feelings to him because she has always seen him as an unattainable figure. Sang Zhi remains silent, observing him from a distance while her feelings grow inside her. When she grows up and becomes a more mature and sensible young woman, her life takes an unexpected turn when they meet again, and what seemed like a platonic love begins to turn into a complex love story.

5. Story of Yanxi Palace

This historical drama is a true masterpiece. The setting, costumes, and meticulous recreation of the Qing Dynasty make this series a visual and narrative gem.

Inspired by real events, it tells the story of Wei Yingluo, a young maid who enters the imperial palace to uncover the truth behind her sister’s death. Intelligent and determined, her unwavering spirit sets her apart from the other women in the emperor’s harem. Her tenacity eventually earns her the emperor’s favour, but the road is far from easy.

The realistic portrayal of palace intrigue, customs of the era, and the complex lives of the concubines make this series a deeply immersive experience. Although it consists of 70 episodes, every minute is worth it and leaves a lasting impression on the viewer.

6. Love Like the Galaxy

One of the defining features of historical C-Dramas is their breathtaking production value—exquisite costumes, intricate hairstyles, and stunning visuals that transport you to another era. This drama is no exception.

The story is gripping and undeniably addictive. We only have one complaint: how long does it take to forgive someone? Especially when that someone is the love of your life, and they made a mistake to save you. Our protagonist takes five years to come to terms with it—whereas we wouldn’t have needed more than five minutes! You’ll want to shake some sense into her! But aside from that, we really enjoyed the series.

What truly makes this drama shine is Leo Wu’s performance—his screen presence is magnetic. His portrayal elevates the story and makes him the heart and soul of the series. If you’re looking for an unforgettable production, this one is a safe bet.
