“True Beauty” follows the incredible story of Im Ju-Kyung, a young high school student, who from an early age suffers from complexes about her appearance. She hates it when people notice her, but she avoids it in an impractical way by becoming a make-up expert. The series focuses on Im Ju-Kyung’s secret life, hidden behind her make-up, and an outstanding student with her own past secrets.
This series is really funny, if you want to have a great time and laugh out loud this is the kdrama you were looking for. I recommend it especially to those people who are going through a hard time in their lives to disconnect and free themselves.
All the characters are incredible, both the main ones and the secondary ones, they will make you laugh.
Cha Eun-Woo as many of you already know is a great actor, as he makes the scenes funny as well as sad.
This main character touches us with his hard story of the past, as his friend died and he feels guilty for not answering his last call. So when he sees that Im Ju-Kyung wants to commit suicide, he helps her, and that’s how our beloved love story begins.
Im Ju-Kyung, with her you will learn that beauty is not only aesthetic, although I think she looks great with and without make-up. She gives us unforgettable moments that remain in our memory because of how much she makes us laugh. It left us with mixed feelings with the ending, 50% Team Han Seo-Jun 50% Team Lee Su-Ho.
Hwang In-Yeop in this series is almost a better character than the main character, the school baddie who is actually a good guy, and all his good deeds are done in secret. And he hides so much that the denouement of his story goes wrong because of a late declaration.
He had all the female viewers adoring him to death.
By secondary characters we mean the girl’s family, the students at school and all the characters that make True Beauty True Beauty. They make this drama funny and make us enjoy it with all the details.
The succession of plots between characters is really funny. It teaches you concepts like friendship, and inner beauty, mixed with comedy. The series is full of all the Korean clichés. Jealousy, drunkenness with Soju, Karaokes, rainy umbrellas, fights in the school canteen, chases in the corridors, slow motion falls, first snowfall, parents getting caught, ridiculous moments that will make you put the cushion on your face and stop watching out of embarrassment…
And also in this series we’ve been able to enjoy the best wedding we’ve seen in Korean dramas (and we’ve seen a lot), and strangely enough it’s not the wedding of the main character. That’s where I leave it.
I assure you that if you watch it you won’t be disappointed!
All their songs remind us of the great moments of this series, for example the song “Call me maybe”.
The actors with their good performances make this series a great laugh riot.
It’s not very addictive, but it’s good enough to spend the whole afternoon watching it.
CONTAINS SPOILER: It ends quite well, but some people think it should have ended with Han Seo-Jun instead of Lee Su-Ho.
