Is it possible to have a family with different parents and no blood ties? This series follows the story of our three protagonists:
Li Jian Jian, a girl with a mischievous and optimistic personality, is the daughter of Li Hai Chao, the owner of a Chinese restaurant. Li Hai Chao is like a piece of bread who would even worry about stray cats.
On the other hand, Ling Xiao has a difficult past to assimilate. His two parents divorced when he was very young, and since then, he has become accustomed to keeping his problems to himself. He has a cold personality with everyone except for the people he has been raised with: Li Jian Jian and…
He Zi Qiu, a boy whose father abandoned him shortly after birth, and whose mother left him when he was 7 years old. He was raised by Li Hai Chao. This is how this little family was formed without any blood ties among these protagonists.
It’s fascinating how families can be created through bonds beyond blood relations!
In this series, we can appreciate the growth and evolution of the characters through different life stages:
Childhood: When they first meet at the age of 7, events blend together, leading to the formation of an unconventional family. These initial bonds become the foundation of their relationship as they grow.
Youth: During this stage, each character’s personal problems take on a life of their own. They face challenges, secrets, and difficult decisions that test their friendship. Sometimes, they even risk everything for one another.
Adulthood: Here, the characters learn to confront their past ghosts. They overcome traumas, reconcile with their family histories, and seek answers. Maturity allows them to understand that family isn’t always limited to blood ties.
In addition to highlighting the importance of healthy friendships, the series underscores the fundamental value of family in our lives. Whether main or supporting characters, they all grapple with various family issues: divorce, abandonment, lack of understanding. Yet, these obstacles don’t stop them; they continue moving forward, supporting each other.
Throughout the show, we see that it’s not only children who need parental love during their upbringing; as parents age, they increasingly rely on their children. It’s a reminder that family transcends biology and thrives on love and care.
This series has been an eye-opener for me in terms of the value that our family holds in our lives and the influence it has on our day-to-day existence. It has made me reflect on how important those family bonds truly are. Additionally, even though the protagonists’ love story isn’t explored in all the detail I’d wish for, the plot remains captivating. Despite occasionally encountering some slow conversations, I appreciate how the series emphasizes the importance of FAMILY.
It’s not bad, but it doesn’t give me goosebumps either, I especially like ‘If Rain’.
They all play their roles very well, the actress Yang Tong Shu, has made me craze. 👍
You don’t want to see it all day long, but when the time comes, it makes you excited, so… 3,8
The last scene reminds me of all the time they have spent together, very nice.
